The comedy of Rafat ‘Rae’ Sanni is self-conscious and self-effacing. Crude, broad, yet filled with fresh and unexpected social commentary, she is quick to poke fun at those around her, but in no way exempts herself from criticism. “This guy tried to ask me out a few weeks ago,” she begins, “with the line, ‘I think you’re really pretty, I just really love elegant black women like Michelle Obama. And…I went out with him anyways.’”
