Transformers: Racists in Disguise?

So I went to see The Hangover, but ended up seeing Transformers 2. The movie was ok, but it was LONG. I went in at 12:10AM and didn't leave until 3:00AM. Needless to say I fell asleep. Besides the movie being ridiculously violent, I didn't feel any type of way until what chud.com calls "Little Black Sambots" came into the picture. Like the writer of the article says, if anyone is going to make a ridiculous comment that might offend someone, it's me or someone in my circle, but this is just kind of crazy for such a big blockbuster.

Take You Down

Chris Brown just pleaded guilty to one count of assault on Rihanna. Now he's got 5 years probation and six months of community service to complete. Additionally, he is to stay 50 yards away from the pop star and attend classes on domestic violence. Click here for the BBC article concerning the matter.

Clipse & Ye Collabo? Kinda Like a Big Deal

I was already fine with what they were doing, but now they changed how they ride the beat along with

Less crack
New beat selection
Different delivery

After 3 mixtapes, 2 albums, and a bunch of guest appearances, their consistency reassures me that this next project will be just as good as the first two. Here's there new track with Mr. West himself, Kinda Like a Big Deal. By the way, he stabbed the track to death.

Major Debut

Birthday shout out to DNN, and the late homie, Pac. On another note, today is the day for which many have been waiting. That new Dancehall sound with Diplo & Switch. Go cop Major Lazer today at the Mad Decent blog or even at it iTunes. Below is the video for the first single "Hold the Line" feat. Mr. Lexx & Santigold. It's out there, but maybe it'll bring you back to the 80's baby Saturday morning cartoons.

NC Ready to Roc

So I'm doing miscellaneous stuff on my laptop, and my fellow LSC afilliate, Rafat, hits me over the head with this news flash about some dude. Can't say I'm chugging the Kool Aid at the moment, but the clip is decent. I saw a couple of posts on nahright but they never really caught my eye. The man's name is J. Cole. He is apparently the first to sign to Jay-Z's label, Roc Nation. Hailing from NC much like on of my favorite duos, Little Brother, it looks everything might be a go...especially since his mixtape, The Warm Up, is supposed to drop today...and Jay-Z is cosigning...not that it really means anything

Bounce

Got some new Lupe for everyone. Nice chill track for BBQs and the car on a sunny day...Not that you'd have a BBQ in the rain or anything.

It's called Fire and you can check it out here. I saw this on nahright thanks to SketchesOfMySoul

Guns Don't Kill People...Dancing Dehydrated Does

Alright, this weekend's gonna be bananas for myriad reasons, but since I'm not one to put all of my business out there, I'll give you one significant reason and that is Major Lazer. The Devious Duo is kicking off the North American tour in NYC tomorrow night. They jump started everything in Jamaica, but now these dudes are on the East Coast ready to pop off. I will be Inna Di Dancehall till the LP drops on June 16th. Lets get it!

Ashed Out

The US Senate just approved legislation taking away a bunch of control from the tobacco industry. FDA is definitely about to go IN. If they didn't have it out for Obama in the first place, they probably do now...smh

"For the first time, the $89 billion tobacco industry would have to disclose the ingredients in its products. Under the new authority, the FDA could ban the most harmful of the estimated 6,000 chemicals used in cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products." - Lyndsey Layton of the Washington Post-

Throwback Tribute

Shout out to Bisi for putting me on because I must've forgot. Since Ja Rule has been officially inducted to the throwback at noon I figured you must all recognize the lyrical prowess of another throwback artist, Roy Jones Jr. He's really feeling it on this one. A+ for intensity.

We Got the Sweetish Remix

Ok...first off, shoutout to Discobelle for this one. I don't know what is up with my obsession with 80's inspired Electronica or whatever, but it does exist and I can't get enough. This post is for this Swedish up and comer Veronica Maggio. I like her...what do you think? That thing below this is a video for her single "MÃ¥ndagsbarn" that came out late 07 early 08.

Annd here's the "Le Prix" remix to the single. I like it more, but I still rock with the single.

1st Guantanamo Prisoner in NYC

Apparently, the first individual detained in Guantanamo Bay, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, has just arrived in the Big Apple. He is scheduled to face a US Civilian trial later today, and claims to not have been knowledgeable of the bombing he's for which he is being held accountable. Check it out here at the BBC. Here's a little bit more info from homelandsecurity.org, and take everything with a grain of salt.

She a BOOM

Need a new/different bashment jam for the summer? Play and download this joint from USA 808 over in Israel. I think they have a good idea of how it goes down in the States. Will probably be putting up more stuff from them too.

Ok...so I'm not posting D.O.A. simply because you will be able to find it EVERYwhere else. Apparently Mary J. didn't get the memo; however, I must say if people were using the Autotune sound the same way she does in this song, it wouldn't need a funeral. On another note...Jigga can abolish Autotune but the NAACP can't bury "Nigga"...I'm just sayin...

Anywayz, this song is with Mary J. and Young Flamethrower

Dear Summer

Artwork by Humble Monarch

Don't know how many Badu fans frequent this page, but here's a "Best Of" to download. I found it at Blentwell thanks to filthyspeakeraddict and Supa Qool DJ Uncle Q. You can go here for the tracklisting or to stream it.

According to the original poster this can be used for any of the following:

Fam & friends BBQ
The car
Mood Music with your boo
Empowerent
Ride or die with your Bonnie or Clyde theme mix
To Unwind after a stressful week

Da Bomb Baby

Someone from Time Magazine said this movie is near perfect...that's a more than bold statement, but equally intriguing. Oh yea, this is also the first time I was actually able to watch YouTube in HD and that = POPPIN'.

When Patriotism Goes...

I'm not exactly sure why they use the word Guantanamo so loosely when we all basically associate it with torture, but whatever. Check it out and see what you think about the proposal.

Hahvud University

Clearly there's WAY more to the story than is being let on by all parties involved, but it's still interesting nonetheless to all the college folk and/or those recently removed I guess. Sometimes I wonder how these situation would play out with slightly different variables

Holy Moly Doughnut Shop?? On another note, big up Pun! Probably the nicest forgotten emcee in the game.

Duck Hunt

Those of you just getting into Hip-Hop or the stuff not on the radio, Duck Down Records is a label that emerged during the "Golden Era" that is the famous home to the Boot Camp Clik. Since 94 they've been consistently blessing wax with their ridiculously talented roster. Anyways, they were in Union Square recently and held a cipher where they really won over the crowd as expected. Lookout below

48 Hours

To say this weekend was hectic would be an understatement, but it was typical. Three states three stops in 24 hours is not exactly what's up. Nonetheless, me and my people survived. I participated in the 48 hour film festival held annually in cities across the US. Basically, there are a whole bunch of teams that are competing to make the best 4 to 7 minute film under specific guidelines. The teams randomly pick out a genre and gets assigned a character who must be used along with a prop and a line of dialogue. Check out the trailer It all started Friday at 7pm and ended Sunday at 7pm. Afterwards, these shorts will be displayed on the big screen in downtown Manhattan. I participated in this event with Team: Art/Official and the finished product is entitled "John Blue 7" Come through and check it out. Tickets are $10 and your vote counts! Awards will be given out for best costumes, best picture, best writing, best lead male/female, best editing, best special effects etc. Additionally there is the audience choice award where you can all vote for your favorite film.
