Daft Punk Interview

With the recent release of Disney's Tron: Legacy, the Hollywood Reporter interviewed critically acclaimed french producers Daft Punk. They talked about their music in relation to the whole project.

Bangalter: We were interested in the relationship between society and technology, and how the place of technology in the world had changed so much. The first movie in 1982 was a very colorful, hopeful, naive look at technology, and the power of the computer. Thirty years later, this new movie would be a dark and not-innocent look at technology. It was in common with how we feel about technology, which is this love-hate relationship with it. It can be wonderful and terrifying.

Feats of the Streets

Those of you familiar with dope regional dances that you can only find in particular cities will find this video even more appealing. For more information about this dance coming up on the scene in Chi-Town, check out palms out.

Chicago has footwork and they really know how to move. Most footwork tracks are simple and similar to one another – most feature a recognizable triplet tom tom pattern. The standard tempo being around 160 bpm gives DJs a lot of liberty with their mixing.

It's hilarious to me too because I just finished seeing Happy Feet in its entirety after drinking a four loko...ANYWAYS...Enjoy!

Anybody else want to go to Prince William's Bachelor Party?

So apparently Snoop made this song in honor of Prince William's Bachelor Party. He's set to perform with British Tinie Tempah. As if a prince's bachelor party wouldn't be crazy enough...
Snoop's take: "Wet’ is the perfect anthem for Prince William or any playa to get the club smokin."
I think he might be right.

Quincy Says NO to Kanye Comparison

Quincy's an OG. Very interesting standpoint...but not really. It's understood though.

"No way. Did he write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man. He’s just a rapper. There’s no comparison. I’m not putting him down or making a judgement or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don’t rap. It’s not the same thing. C'Mon Venezuela & Chavez...C'Mon

Really though? This man has done a lot to reverse the insane injustices put into effect, but the Balance of Power is shifting into the other direction and not really in a good way.

Venezuela's government has banned the use of President Hugo Chavez's image for propaganda purposes without direct and prior permission from the leader.

The use of Mr Chavez's image on public buildings was also outlawed under the new decree.

Shook Ones - Diggy Simmons

I keep hearing all of this stuff, and have decided that Diggy does in fact have what it takes. He's an emcee and has punchlines that aren't punchlines. If you're not the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to understanding lyrics, definitely give this a couple of listens. Very very impressive showing, and co-sign.

What's going on on Cartoon Network Nowadays? Well from the creator of Dexter's Lab there's Sym-Bionic Titan with apparently some serious club-dubbin action. Suitable for kids? Prob not but this Nerd shows some fortitude in not doing the cheerleaders homework despite her salacious booty dancing.

Jay-Z on the BBC

Here's a an interesting and informative interview with Jay-Z courtesy of the UK's own, DJ Semtex.

A Letter from Russell to Kanye

Recently, Hip-Hop Mogul wrote a very heartfelt message to Kanye. Pretty dope. It's nice to see people uniting behind the man. Read the rest here

The passion you put into your new album is why I stayed up all those nights in the early 80's trying to get DJs and radio stations to play our records. I knew this day would come. Actually, maybe I didn't know, but I really, really hoped it would. I didn't work this hard when I was your age to watch the culture go the wrong way. And you, my friend, just took us to another level. I am simply in awe.

Kid Cudi: "We Aite (Make Your Mind Up" (Video)

Maybe one of the most honest opinions of Kid Cudi I've ever heard, "he's way more interesting musically than lyrically. Which is still true here, and probably will always be." Check out the video, the man can motivate the crowd, that's gotta be worth something.

G.O.O.D. Ass Weekend

Ok, so apparently ticket giveaways have ended, but I still have to let you know. This weekend is gonna be BANANAS.

1. G.O.O.D. Fridays will definitely coming with heat.
2. Friday Night Lights will be dropping from Killa Cole

LAST and I dare say most importantly, Heineken Inspire is throwing a concert with NaS, Cee-Lo, Pete Rock, Diplo, Roxy Cottontail, and a Surprise guest. To be quite honest, if I didn't know any better I would think that this was even a G.O.O.D. music track collabo coordinated by Ye. I really cannot think of a better weekend in the fourth quarter for music!

FYI we're going to be getting on the fashion tip sooner than later, and we're starting out with these clean kicks that are a result of a Heineken and Gourmet collabo.

Movie Mash-Up #2 - GroundHog Day

So I kind of like stuff like this... This is also one of my favorite movies of all time. Once again, the creator of this video (different person) actually kept to the theme of the movie. The repetition and clock cut scenes give you an idea of what the movie is about even having not scene it (see what I did there?). Either way, well worth the listen.
Enjoy

Watch/listen to Snow White like never before

This is an amazing track titled Wishery "comprising vocal syllables, musical chords and sound effects recorded from the 1937 Disney classic Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs."
It's basically a mashup of the songs in the movie itself. It has a great beat and the vocals are a great whimsical adaptation of the songs throughout the movie. Even the video is cut well.
So stop what you're doing and watch.

MC Hammer is just....Out of Touch.

So...MC Hammer tried to touch Jay-Z with his own diss track...except it's funny cuz he was destroyed before he even responded by that one bar. Anyways, I find it pretty insulting that a man would use religion for publicity. If he was really that passionate about exposing Jay's "partnership" with satan then why is it only being put out after "So Appalled"?? Regardless, this video is still pretty comedic. This is where MMA, Religion, Hip-Hop, and @$$holes meet. Hahaha enjoy.

Premo and J. Cole and Drake...WORD

DJ Premier may be from what young hip-hop listeners would now consider the “old school,” but he wouldn’t remain one of the most revered producers more than twenty years into his career if he didn’t know how to adapt to the culture’s evolving landscape. Preem’s revered ear is for more than samples; he’s got an ear for the new generation’s rising talent, as well. In a recent interview with the legendary hip-hop architect he revealed to XXLMag.com that he hopes to work with rising stars J. Cole and Drake.

South Park Under Attack Literally?

A US man has pleaded guilty to supporting a Somali Islamist militant group and encouraging attacks on the writers of cartoon show South Park.

Prosecutors said Zachary Adam Chesser, 20, was outraged by the cartoon's perceived mockery of the prophet Muhammad.

Chesser sought twice to travel to Somalia to join al-Shabab, which the US designates as a terrorist group.

The American Muslim convert faces up to 30 years in prison.

Ye obsessed with White People?

I was put on to this article a little earlier today. Don't really know what to make of it, but nonetheless it's a decent conversation piece. Read the rest of the article here at the BVX.

Still, Ye never relinquished the role of the quasi-nerd who never gets the prom queen because she only dates jocks. He's since become a jock, but he no longer seeks merely to win the prom queen, but rather to run the whole prom court . In doing so, he's become infatuated with the old (exclusively white) boys club, which runs the courts of hubris, pomp, privilege and capital -- social and financial capital and arguably more of the former.

His apology to Taylor Swift signified a certain racial deference, given that there was no Tweeted "sorry" also to Janet Jackson, the person who was supposed to be the center of attention at that year's VMAs for her moving tribute to her deceased King of Pop brother -- all of which was overshadowed by West's antics.

Every Satruday Rap Attack Mr. Magic, Marley Marl

I heard this a little over a week ago, and it definitely made me think that Flex is ready to make a come back. He and Kool DJ Red Alert had a very memorable set in the name of Mr. Magic. Click here to check out the rest at In Flex We Trust.

Mr. Magic debuted in 1981 on WHBI-FM in New York City with the first exclusive rap radio show to be aired on a major station. Billing itself as Rap Attack, Magic’s show featured Marley Marl as the DJ and Tyrone “Fly Ty” Williams as the show’s co-producer. Magic moved to WBLS-FM in July 1982. Magic’s reign on the New York City airwaves lasted six years and was instrumental in broadening the scope and validity of hip-hop music.

M.I.B.

I didn't see the BET Awards, but I did see this clip and ummm...the defibrillator of Hip-Hop and his G.O.O.D. Music crew alongside Premier ripped a new one with their segment. Now it's time for us to go check out Cyhi The Prince.

Complex in its realness and simplicity. C'Mon Son. This week has been crazy as far as the other perspectives I've been exposed to, so I decided to put this up just to show how complex one can get without using vocabulary that not everyone understands. On Dogs Plies made an Important song for the generation... This is not a joke, the song is good.

Plies must have been listening to the critics. We all know Plies has a good heart. Last year he payed a young female $1000 to leave his concert because he thought it wasn't appropriate for her age. Still he gets hated on by the likes of former superstars and current crack users for not being a teacher. Now he makes a song, 'Why U Hate Us,' that addresses racism straight up no chasers. If you hate on this go take a ride on a razor blade waterslide. The move to consciousness is often shunned by the hip hop nation so let's see what's good.

The Cudi Hendrix Experience Feat. Kanye West and McLovin

Kid Cudi is one of my favorite new artist. Here he does his thing with the help of big Kanyeezy who once again kills the track, and 2/3 of the SuperBad crew. All dressed like their next stop could be Woodstock 2010.

Sobered Up Joe Buddens ft. Crooked I

Damn I love that grown introspective ish. Joe Buddens and Slaughterhouse partner Crooked I go in on new track 'Sober Up'. In an age when MC's aren't supposed to be thinkers, this is refreshing. Check dude out in the Espn Body issue where some of the best athletes pose nuded for the sports magazine. Dude is ripped for somebody who's soon going to qualify for senior citizens discounts. Not Guilty

Some people prefer to spend tons of money on pink football equipment instead of research in the name of breast cancer...we at Gasoline Dream prefer to be a bit more preventive and proactive. Your welcome.

Ladies and gentlemen...we no longer have to feel guilty cuz we're saving lives!! In more ways than one...Don't believe me? Then check out this article from CNN.

"(AP) -- Women who perform the act of fellatio and swallow semen on a regular basis, one to two times a week, may reduce their risk of breast cancer by up to 40 percent, a North Carolina State University study found."

In a study of over 15,000 women suspected of having performed regular fellatio and swallowed the ejaculatory fluid, over the past ten years, the researchers found that those actually having performed the act regularly, one to two times a week, had a lower occurrence of breast cancer than those who had not.

Night Shot

Not only is it tragic, but it's also beyond me how countries similar to Nigeria supply so much of their resources to numerous countries and still aren't able to sustain...

Surgeons operating with kerosene lanterns and accident victims waiting in dark hospital corridors because there's no light to see their injuries; these are among the realities of life during Nigeria's long power outages, according to a group campaigning to improve electricity supply.

"Nigeria is one of the world's largest producer of fossil fuels so we shouldn't have a problem generating our own electricity."

Fox Blasts Obama on the Sneak Tip

You may have heard that Barack Obama shared some thoughts about Fox News Channel in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. When asked about the channel, Obama pointed out that media outlets with a political perspective have been relatively common throughout U.S. history, but that he believed Fox's perspective is "ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class."

"My esophogus is quite atonic when I vomit / It's bio-engineered ergonomics / Truth divided by...innovative ebonics times goose, lime, crushed ice, and a splash of tonic"

Atonic: Without normal muscle tone or strength. An atonic seizure is one in which the person suddenly loses muscle tone and strength and cannot sit or stand upright and, unless supported, falls down.

Ergonomics is the science of designing user interaction with equipment and workplaces to fit the user. Proper ergonomic design is necessary to prevent repetitive strain injuries, which can develop over time and can lead to long-term disability.

Not sure what to do on Saturday while you're in NYC? That's a shame because you should already know about this monthly party held by one of NYC's premier DJ crews "The Rub".

This is why you should clearly not dissrespect yourself by not attending. Their monthly event is every first Saturday of the month at Southpaw located at 125 5th Ave., Brooklyn, NY. Take any train that gets to Atlantic Ave. in BK and you will be within walking distance. See ya'll there!

Umm...???

So I was browsing the Huffington Post not too long ago and found out some interesting information concerning the republican candidate for the US Sentate position in Connecticut, Linda McMahon.

"The minimum wage now in our country, I think we've set that, so there are a lot of people have benefited from it in our country, but I think we ought to review how much it ought to be, and whether or not we ought to have increases in the minimum wage," McMahon said at a press conference.

After the event, "McMahon admitted she didn't know what the current minimum wage is or if any of her employees at World Wrestling Entertainment are paid it," CTNewsJunkie.com reported.

All Black Everything

Chinese police are investigating claims that a security firm colluded with officials to detain protesters in secret prisons, known as "black jails".

Human rights groups say China has hundreds of such jails, and detainees are often subject to abuse - but the Chinese government has repeatedly denied they exist.

Race and Ethnicity and Maps Oh My!

My left hand woman B put me on to this. It's an interesting and unique look at Race and Ethnicity in these United States of America. Can you tell what city's in this post?

To match his map, Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, Orange is Hispanic, Gray is Other, and each dot is 25 people. Data from Census 2000.

The Real Report

Honestly, Stephen Colbert is so talented that I could never really tell when he's in or out of character. Below is a brief interview with the man himself somewhat out of his realm so to speak. This one made the guy even that much more fascinating.

What about my Ball Sack??

So I was watching videos on college humor of some dude doing a weird front flip (not GD worthy) but then this commercial came up. I found it funny. Oh well

Never Been by Boy Gee Wiz

This joint is late...but it's in heavy rotation over at Gasoline Dream so we figured we'd share. Dope beat, tight yet elusive flow, and some crispy lyrics. If you need that much more than this, you'll never truly be satisfied...with Hip-Hop atleast.

Das Racist

The blowup came during a discussion on Thursday's edition of "Money Rocks"about whether or not to privatize the US Postal Service. Though all of the guests appeared to agree about the issue at hand, several took offense at the comments of GOP strategist Jack Burkman.

Burkman launched the discussion by saying, "most of these guys working in the Post Office should be driving cabs, and I think we should stop importing labor from Nigeria and Ethiopia. That's the skill level."

So Sad is the sample

Hmmm...I think this guy sampled Ashanti's voice from Unfoolish. Regardless, this is a decent house track composed by Jacques Greene. He's popularity is rising on a daily basis and I recommend you all start listening now. His EP is set to debut via Lucky Me.
