Dirty Little Ghetto Boys

Gasoline Dream favorite and Hip-Hop legend, Scarface of the Geto Boys, sits down with Vibe Magazine to go over the legacy of his group and his solo catalogue. GREAT stuff that shouldn't be overlooked if you consider yourself a Hip-Hop head.

“I think with anything that you do in life it has to run its course,” Face tells VIBE of his split from his longtime label home and J. Prince. “And I think that my business relationship with Rap-A-Lot has ran its course. I’m not just a rapper anymore. You can’t make me an artist, anymore. It’s time for me to have my own shit. There’s a lot of money in successful independent records. I was totally unaware of that throughout my career by the label. If you put a few million records out and you are making eight bucks a pop, everything is supposed to be everything. I’m supposed to be a part of that money, right? I think with the amount of money independent artists make I wish I would have made the move a little sooner.”

K.R.I.T.

Big K.R.I.T...hmm where do I start...one of my boys over at Brooklyn Bodega put me on to his recent mixtape, K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, and the first thing I asked him was if he was better than Freddie Gibbs. After going through tons of music recently, I've definitely been trying to filter through it whichever way possible. To make a long story short, I gave him a listen and this dude's mixtape is jaw dropping. He could easily be viewed by many credible and knowledgeable blogs/organizations as making the mixtape of the year.

Very few artists in general have as much range as this dude when it comes to production AND rhymes. He's got those "ignorant" dirty beats that KNOCK ("Country $h!t" & "Just Touched Down") in addition to ones with crazy soulful/jazzy samples ("Something" & "Neva Go Back"). When one's got the lyrical ability and content of someone like K.R.I.T. alongside production this tight, he/she is bound to leave a sudden impact. This project has many songs that remind me of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, UGK, and Scarface's The Fix. That being said, I don't know what else to say except that you need this mixtape in your life so you can find out who this man is.

BURR

Alright folks...I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this probably Gucci Man's best song that he's ever been featured on. This definitely also reminds me of This Can't Be Life by Jay, Beans, and the boy Face Mob. (Damn I wish they made an album)
